Hi tracy RESTRICTION RESOLVED

Hi Tracy,

I hear what you are saying but unfortunately it was not the case with me! I do know what you are taking about and I have experienced the same thing and my doctor suggests semi flat cola to settle the oesophagus down but if I come across it again i will try your solution!
I ended up in the hospital today as my surgeon finally got back to me. I copped one of his registrars! (why do doctors always seem to conveniently be interstate when you need them!!!) HMMMMMMMM!! The registrar didn't seem to know what he was doing at first and I said to him politely "please do not do it if you can not find the port because I really do not want to be re operated on". Even my own surgeon finds it really hard to get the needle in these days!

To cut a Long story short he finally got the very huge needle in and took out .5mls It felt like I had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders like I could breathe again! and that glass of water he gave me was like heaven because i was so thirsty and was so glad that it didn't come back up! I was over filled LOL

Today since the removal of the fill I have been able to eat lunch and tea! much less then before so I'm now hoping I'm at my "sweet spot" the spot where I'm not hungry much, I don't snack and don't need much food to get by. The spot that we get the lap band for. The kind of restriction where I'm satisfied with not much food and where the weight is coming off again fast like it was when first banded! i was not expecting the restriction to take so long to hit i thought a few fills and I will be fine! I have a 10ml band with about 8 in it and its taken about 5 fills to figure it out but I'm hoping I'm there. Only time will tell..

Oh, that is good news. I am so happy that you have fixed your problem. It really is a learning curve, this banding life, isn't it?

All the best,
Tracey

Hey Beena,

That's great you are back on track. I'm curious however, that the doctor thought adding 1ml was a better choice than the .5ml that you usually get, double what you usually get seems a bit extreme, like the doctor was impatient with your weight loss! Did you question his decision or just go with it? And did you manage to drink the water they gave you after the original 1ml?
Nearly 2kg in a month is still good - what sort of expectations do you have for a montly loss?
On another note, I've offically been told to start optifast 3 weeks pre op. So Boxing Day it is! On the plus side, I've managed to lose 6kg already!
The dietitian and exercise physiologist were really helpful - there seems to be a great support with this clinic that I've gone with.
